8-Day Tour in Morocco

Perfect for travelers looking for a fast-paced trip, this short but sweet adventure offers up a great combination of Morocco’s must-see highlights and a little free time to explore on your own.

Tour the dunes from the top of your camel for an authentic way to experience the Sahara; this is the perfect way to learn about Moroccan culture and history. We arrange delicious and authentic meals with local families, facilitate stays in charming little hotels and Riads instead of chain hotels, and always strive to give our travelers a unique and authentic experience.

Note: This is a small group tour for up to 12 travelers. Since it is a guaranteed trip departure, go ahead and book it even if you are a solo traveler

Itineraries

Day 1

Arriving in Casablanca

Arrive at any time at your hotel. If you need us to arrange the transfer from the airport, we will be happy to assist you.
Please note that this tour does not take place in Casablanca. You can come a day early in order to explore Casablanca and visit the spectacular Hassan II Mosque. Entrance is only permitted via guided tours. The adventures with us will start tonight, when you meet with your tour leader at 6 p.m. He will go over the trip details and information and answer any questions you might have about your daily program. After introductions, the tour leader will take you to an optional local dinner, where to have a chance to know your new friends on this tour.

Day 2

Casablanca/Fes

Start early and drive through the rolling hills to Meknas for a guided visit to Meknes. Here, you will have lunch and continue to Volubilis for an afternoon guided tour of the best-preserved Roman ruins in this part of Northern Africa, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Afterward, continue to Fes for an overnight stay and get ready to explore The Medina of Fez the following day.

Day 3

Fes Exploring

After your breakfast, follow the local guide who knows the streets of old Medina by heart. Stop at one of the ancient tanneries and take in the view from above. Enjoy a half-day medina walking tour, with free time in the afternoon to explore more of the city. Visit one of the Quranic schools in the old Medina. Explore the artisan quarters, sample treats from the carts, and view Fes’s famous leather tannery from above.

Day 4

Fes/Merzouga Camp

Today is a long drive through the Middle and High Atlas Mountains. End your day with camel riding for an hour and a half to your camp. After a long day driving from Fes, you will arrive at Merzouga, where you will meet your camels and ride them for around 80 minutes to the deep dunes for an overnight stay. The local guides will teach you how to play some drums, followed by story time in the evening. Dinner will be served under the stars.
8–9 hours of driving

Day 5

Merzouga/Todra Gorges.

Rise early to mount our trusty camels and watch the sunrise before returning to Merzouga for your warm breakfast. Continue driving to Todra Gorges for a short walk through the Berber villages and visit the deepest Gorges in North Africa.

Day 6

Todra Gorges/Ait Benhaddou/Marrakesh

Travel along the route of 1000 Kasbahs and cross Ouarzazate City, the home of the Atlas Studios, where many films have been shot over the years, including Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Drive to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah for a guided tour and before crossing the high Atlas Mountains to Marrakesh. Tour the UNESCO World Heritage Site and Kasbah of Aït Ben Haddou with your tour leader. Of all the remaining Kasbahs in Morocco, the walls and interior of this area are the most intact. The Kasbah still houses a few families, but many now live in the adjacent village. Like many of the earthen-built fortresses in Ouarzazate, Aït Ben Haddou has been used in many film and television productions, like Gladiator, Babel, and Game of Thrones. Continue driving to Marrakesh, where you’ll stay the night.

Day 7

Marrakesh Exploring

Take a guided tour of the old Medina of Marrakesh, visiting Bahia Palace, Saadian Tombs, and the main square of Jemaa el-Fnaa. Shop for small gifts for your family, and enjoy your free afternoon to explore more or relax and take some Moroccan tea. Your tour leader will help you if you want to visit more places like Jardin Majorelle.

Day 8

Departure Time.

If you are not ready to leave yet, we will help to extend your trip and accommodation.

  • Transfer from the airport to your Riad in Marrakesh
  • Two nights in the Riad in Marrakesh on B/B (Riad Chamali or similar)
