Itineraries
Day 1
Marrakech-Imlil 1740m-Toubkal Refuge 3207m
After a transfer to the small village of Imlil, you begin your trek. Heading along the Mizane valley, you first cross the village of Armed, then join the shrine of Sidi Chamharouch. Here, you will have your first break for lunch before you continue following mule trucks going up into the Toubkal Refuge to stay the night and get ready for the following day.
Approx 6 hours of walking
Day 2
Toubkal Refuge 3207m–Toubkal Peak 4167m – Imlil 1740m
Early in the morning, you make your attempt at the summit of Jebel Toukbal, the highest peak in Northern Africa. Our route takes us up the south cirque, crossing the stream above the refuge. When you reach the summit, you will see that the vistas across the surrounding landscape are quite breathtaking. From here, there are unrestricted views in every direction, from the Marrakesh Plain to the High Atlas in the north and as far south as the Anti-Atlas and the Sahara. We will retrace our steps down the mountain and head back to the Toubkal Refuge, where you will have lunch and walk down to Imlil for an overnight stay before exploring the Sahara and a few Kasbahs.
Approx 10 hours of walking
Day 3
Imlil Valley – Tizi n’Tichka - Ait Benhaddou-Ourzazate - Dades Gorges
Today, we drive toward the Moroccan desert. First, over the spectacular pass, passing through many Berber villages, visiting Kasbah Ait Benhaddou. Once in the desert, you’ll see riverside oases and barren hillsides clustered with kasbahs. After lunch, we will drive to the Valley of Roses, with beautiful views of the Dades Valley, where you will spend the night.
Day 4
Dades – Todra Gorges – Erg Chebbi Dunes (Merzouga, Berber Camp)
After breakfast, we will drive to the Todra Gorge. After a brief stop, we will drive on to ‘Auberge Palais du Dunes’ at the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Once you arrive at the hotel, you will have some mint tea and you can get prepared for overnight at the camp in the middle of the Sahara. You will then drive with your camel to the camp, where the cook is preparing your dinner. After dinner, you will have an amazing time; there is music, and you can see the sky filled with stars.
Day 5
Merzouga to Marrakech
After viewing the most beautiful sunrise, you will ride the camels back to your hotel to have breakfast. From there, it will be a long day driving back to Marrakech, again via Tichka Pass.

We did 5 days Toubkal + Desert tour with Omar in September 2024 and it was amazing experience!
Firstly, climbing Mount Toubkal was great. Even though it is exhausting climb especially because of the 2 busy consecutive days with early wake up on second day, you will be rewarded by amazing Mountain views. Definitely worth it.
Secondly, trip to desert is great too. We were enjoying the views and the sceneries of the country and desert is definitely the highlight of the trip. However you have to be prepared for long days in car so it’s rather a road trip feeling. I like it but if you have more days, I would highly recommend to invest them in this area. Also, we agreed with Omar to adjust the plan and we ended our tour in Fes instead of Marrakesh.
We had Toto as a guide for both Toubkal and desert part of the trip. Very nice guy, I personally liked him very much but you need to keep asking him about things you are interested in in order to have 110% experience🙂 We were accompanied by Yassine, our driver- very cool guy, always smiling and in the great mood! We felt safe with him given the driving standards in the country.
Overall we had a great time, we enjoyed it and we recommend this trip.

Personalised 5 day holiday – We had a great time on our trip to Morocco and I would put that all down to Omar and his team – thank you very much. Omar arranged everything from Airport Pick up, private car for the duration of our trip, excursions and recommendations what to do and accommodation – all for a great price.
